Temporomandibular Disease is incorrectly referred to as “TMJ” or jaw pain. In actuality it is anything that affects or is affected by the health of the jaw joint (TMJ or temporomandibular joint). This can include joint degradation or deformity, hyperactive jaw muscles and a poor bite. Signs and symptoms of TMD can include any of the following: jaw muscle soreness or pain, reduced range of motion, headaches, joint pain, joint noises (pops, clicks and grinding), loose teeth, shifting teeth, teeth with wear, sensitive teeth and pain to biting.
